OHorizons: 2016 in Pictures

2016 has been a great year for the OHorizons Foundation! Here is photo recap:

Our Bangladesh Project HQ was built. The impressive multiple story filter production and beneficiary training center is now in use in the village of Munshigonj in southwestern Bangladesh. 

Our partner organization, LEDARS, leads a beneficiary training on BioSand Filter usage and maintenance. Everyone who wants a filter in their home must go through this training. 

Our Wood Molds and the concrete filters they produce are built on-location by our Implementation Partners using 100% locally-sourced materials, tools, and labor!

It's easy to see why our inexpensive home water filters are popular in SW Bangladesh. Before and after filtration.

Our pilot project with the Amua Africa Project in Kenya added BioSand Filters into the homes of 100 families in 2016.

Our 90 second video [Watch Here] won the InfyMakers Award Contest and $10,000! Thank you to everyone who voted for us and helped spread the word about our entry!

Our Make-Your-Own Water Filter Station was awarded a prestigious Make Magazine Editors’ Choice Red Ribbon for “Excellence in Education” at the 2016 World Maker Faire! During the 2 day event in New York City around 700 kids made their own water filters. 

Our DIY Instructional Video Series [Watch Here] provides in-depth lessons on building the OHorizons Wood Mold, pouring a concrete filter, and testing the filter's functionality. For our partner organizations around the world running their own projects, the videos are a helpful visual supplement to our open-source Wood Mold Construction Manual and Appendix.
